The 250th anniversary of the Oberkampf factory: The eternal spring of Toile de Jouy
Thanks to the emerging industry of the late eighteenth century, Jouy became known worldwide.
Its fame comes from the Toile de Jouy factory which, founded in 1760 by Christophe Philippe Oberkampf, celebrates its 250th anniversary this year !

The beautiful Musée de la Toile de Jouy was created and has continued to flourish thanks to the town of Jouy-en-Josas.
Founded in 1977, the museum pays tribute to Oberkampf, a German immigrant who became one of the greatest entrepreneurs of his time, and commemorates that remarkable feat of industry.
A constant effort over the years, starting with a small fund, has resulted in a first-class collection of nearly 7,000 pieces, reflecting the strong appreciation of Toile de Jouy in clothing and furniture from the eighteenth to the twenty-first century.
