Since its opening in 1977, the Musée de la Toile de Jouy has provided different avenues of approach to textile design by holding temporary exhibitions in the Orangery.
These exhibitions address different issues: The results of scientific research, they provide an opportunity to take advantage of the rich base of the museum, and lead to unprecedented collaborations and exchanges with various museuminstitutionsand with other partners. Participating museums include the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (Museum of Decorative Arts), Musée de l'Impression sur Etoffe de Mulhouse (Printed Textile Museum of Mulhouse), and the Musée Galliera ...
These exhibitions also allow for discovery of contemporary textile designs : celebrated producers of Toiles de Jouy, artists working on textiles and textile prints, and designers using Toile de Jouy.
In this way, regular partners, public institutions, and private collectors contribute to the renown of the Musée de la Toile de Jouy.
With one or two temporary exhibitions per year, the Musée de la Toile de Jouy is well suited for repeat visits, providing a different experience each time.
Furniture manufacturers, who now offer reproductions of historical designs, often participate in museum exhibits. They also contribute to the decoration of connecting spaces and of the tearoom, creating a link between heritage and contemporary creations.
